Good to hear Lee again and an interesting topic. It's been bothering me for a while now and I think these names need an update. We say that for 8s it's lust, but it's not really lust, but rather something else, same caveats we do for the sloth, avarice and a few others. That's why I'm curious what you're going to say about them.
As for the gene for the type 4, I've got that hypothesis lately, that since our type/point is a strategy we tend to overuse and that's connected to the control centre, which is the brain and the brain is dependent (at least in some part) on the gene expression and environment, then we could possibly connect the enneagram types with genes. I wonder if the types would be an expression of the brain physiology, for example larger amygdala (6), or higher activity in the left hemisphere or dlPFC (5), or right hemisphere or vmPFC (4), or more serotonin receptors (9), dopamine (7), oxytocin (2) and so on. I'm just making stuff up here obviously, but that's the idea and it's easily disprovable, just need a thousand brain scans (or fMRI) of each type to compare. Anyway, just the kind of thoughts I've got. Good episode btw.
